As a young child I lived in Malaya for 2 ½ years in the 1950s and remember vividly the sounds, sights and smells of this wonderful country and its Malayan, Indian and Chinese population. Their way of life, festivals and music left a lasting impression.
Much of the music published here I discovered either during my teaching years or in research since retiring which has been a great pleasure as for me it conjures up memories of a time past.
