This is the way to Fairyland….

Fairies and similar magical beings may be whimsical, but their enchanting presence opens up a world of wonder and discovery for young children, encouraging imaginative thoughts that will last a lifetime. These timeless poems and songs can spark creativity, enhance language abilities, support emotional growth, and more—all in a fun and engaging way!

As a young child, my affection for the little folk was sparked by dreams that encouraged me to believe I could fly and an aunt teasing me that my shoulder blades were tiny wing buds that emerged at night. As a four year old, fairies in the garden felt very real; an old gentleman with a railway embankment allotment at the bottom of our garden fueled my belief with gifts of teeny tiny potatoes to serve on rose petal plates for the fairies. They were always gone by the next day!

Around the same time, when I was ill and lay in bed for six weeks or so I was convinced, encouraged by my aunt and parents, that the fairies came to visit me. There was a large tree outside my window and when the moonlight shone through the rustling leaves, little shadows ran up and down the hill made by my blanket covered legs – quite enchanting. However as an imaginative child at that time I also regularly saw a penguin dancing on the paraffin stove in the corner!
During my teaching years, I shared many of the songs and poems you can find below, much to my pupils’ delight.
