This way to outer space….

Needless to say this collection has been inspired by the recent amazing journey by the Artemis 11 crew around the moon and back again in the Orion spacecraft.

Why is it important for young children to learn about our universe?

• it helps to develop critical thinking encouraging children to ask questions and seek answers
• it sparks a lifelong curiosity, and fosters environmental stewardship by highlighting Earth’s unique, fragile nature
• studying space inspires the imagination
• it introduces foundational science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts
• it provides a “cosmic perspective” that encourages empathy and an understanding of our place in the world.

The cultivation of the imagination is the most compelling aspect of this venture and being drawn into the wonderland that is our Universe. Initially the songs and poems gathered here were mostly about the moon and selected from my archive of lullabies. Going forward I intend to explore deeper into outer space, and will rummage through my previous ‘Singing Games for children’ website to find more inspiration for this collection.
