A collection of bountiful songs
Seasons change as always and the harvest is upon us. The word ‘harvest’ is from the Old English ‘hærfest’, meaning autumn.
Time to appreciate that food is grown on the land, not behind the doors of a supermarket!
It is also a time to think of those in need; to collect together harvest gifts ready for distribution through church, supermarkets or charities.
The harvest season in the UK comes towards the end of September or the beginning of October. Nowadays the date is fixed but in the past the harvest festival would change depending on when the harvest had all been brought in.
